Are you a romantic person? What does Valentine’s day mean to you?

Saint Valentine’s Day (Valentine’s Day) is celebrated on February 14th each year.

St. Valentine’s Day began as a liturgical celebration of one or more early Christian saints named Valentinus.
The day was first associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished.
By the 15th century, it had evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as “valentines”).

Jay Leno has said ‘Today is Valentine’s Day – or, as men like to call it, Extortion Day!’
Although this is an unromantic quote the truth is that in the US alone around this date close to 450 million dollars are spent in candy and 150 million in cards and gifts!

If nothing else it is great for the related industries!

Do you need a specific day to honor your significant other?

It is like New Year’s resolutions, a ritual that people perform because it is expected, but that is not really meant or felt, so no real impact comes from it?

If it is like that to you reflect on why… What if you did not feel it as an obligation? Would it be more fun? Would it have more meaning?

I’m one of those people that think that LOVE is just a word until the right person comes along and gives it meaning… so for me every day is Valentine’s, regardless of chocolates or flowers…

However, today I mean to have a special dinner with my husband, with a nice bottle of wine and romantic music. It’s going to be great because we are together, making each other happy and enjoying every minute, grateful for what we have, not just going through the motions…

Happy Valentine’s day!
